Glossary29Jul20151Preah Sihanouk – A number of climate change​ ​experts and technical officials, including Ministry of Environment officials​ from the General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD-GS), Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) programme and Strategic Progamme for Climate Resilience (SPCR), are meeting this week in Preah Sihanouk province, from the 29 to 31 July, to review and finalize the Climate Change Glossary.

Mr. Sum Thy, Director of the Climate Change Department of the NCSD-GS and CCCA’s Programme Manager, underlined the importance of a Climate Change Glossary developed in the Khmer language, which reflects the current consensus on climate change terminology. The Glossary will facilitate the systematic use of appropriate terms and concepts in the climate change work in Cambodia. "The final draft of glossary has been developed and thoroughly cross checked in a series of meetings and discussions by climate change technical officials of the Ministry of Environment and CCCA. We expect that this document will be a key reference to the development of climate change science and to practitioners in the country", he added.

The glossary is comprised of over 500 terms and is divided into three main sections: 1) Terminologies and definitions 2) Terminologies from Khmer to English, and 3) Abbreviations.
