CCAP for MoInf

16 January 2015: The Ministry of Information (MoInf) organized its consultation workshop on Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) for the Ministry of Information sector under the presidency of H.E. Minister of Information in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA). The workshop was participated by over 90 representatives from MoInf (senior management, Directorates General and Municipal/Provincial Departments of Information), Ministry of Environment, CCCA and relevant NGOs.

As a result of active discussion participants agreed on 5 action fiches to be included in CCAP for MoInf as below:

  1. Human resource development and enhancing human capacity;
  2. Program production for awareness raising;
  3. Promotion of private sector to participate in broadcasting;
  4. Enhancement and expansion of the broadcasting means for raising awareness;
  5. Expanding the national radio and TV broadcasting coverage.

On the same day, another separate consultation workshop on Climate Change Action Plan for the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) was organized by the MoT under the presidency of H.E. Sdoeung Sokhom, Under Secretary of State of the MoT at the Ministry Office. The draft CCAP for MoT was discussed and 6 action fiches were agreed:

  1. Livelihood improvement of people and environmental management in tourist sites;
  2. Promotion of livelihood resilience through development of community based tourism and eco-tourism;
  3. Piloting solid waste management and sanitation improvement in Chi Phat Community Based Eco-Tourism Site;
  4. Promotion of non-motorized transportation in key tourist zones,
  5. Awareness raising for tourism industry on environment and climate change;
  6. Development of a joint Prakas on Community Based Tourism/Community Based Eco Tourism with MAFF, MOE.

Up to present, 8 ministries/agencies of the Royal Government have approved their Climate Change Action Plans and are currently developing concept notes for CCCA grant​s to implement their priority actions.
