On 14th October 2022, the MoE, with the support of the National Assembly (N.A.) of Cambodia, organized a workshop on the roles of the parliament in climate action. The workshop aimed to provide an overview of the status of the environment and climate change in Cambodia and gather inputs and comments for the development of a climate change handbook for the use of the parliament. The workshop was presided over by H.E. Loy Sophath, chair of the 3rd Committee of Planning, Investment, Agriculture, Rural Development, Environment, and Water Resources; H.E. Mr. Say Samal, Minister of Environment; H.E Leng Peng Long, Secretary General of N.A.; H.E. Kep Chuktema, Chair of the 4th Committee of the N.A., and H.E. Chan Nareth; Vice-chair of the 3rd committee of the Senate and participants included representatives from M.P.s of the N.A. and Senate, MoE's, NGOs and other relevant institutions. At the workshop, a wide range of information, and data were shared on the current situation in terms of climate change, including the latest state of the environment and REDD+ programme update. The event was also a special way to strengthen the relationships between the MoE and the Parliament through climate action.
