  13. Validation Workshop on ‘Promoting the development of transport infrastructure (roads) and irrigation systems resilient to climate change’

On 10 November 2023, the DCC and CCCA3 team attended a Validation Workshop on ‘Promoting the development of transport infrastructure (roads) and irrigation systems resilient to climate change’ under the GCF fund, was held in Kampong Cham municipality. 

The project objectives are to 1)- Evaluate vulnerability of transport infrastructure and irrigation systems; and 2)- Promote climate-resilient irrigation systems. While there are 2 core components to focus on namely;

  • Component 1- Conduct a climate risk assessment of road transport infrastructure and irrigation system in Kampong Cham with the activities for a literature review on the existing infrastructure, climate models to project the future impacts of climate change, develop recommendations for reducing the vulnerability of infrastructure; and
  • Component 2: Climate Smart irrigation with the activities for a Need Assessment and site selection, capacity building and farmer engagement. 

Next session: There will be 2 ongoing validation workshops to be held in Battambang and Koh Kong municipality.
