From 24 to 27 June, the CCCA team supported the Department of Climate Change (DCC) to conduct a field monitoring visit to the JCM REDD+ Prey Lang project in Stung Treang province. The purpose of the visit is to update the progress of the project implementation from 2018-2021. The team is trying to understand the challenges and suggestions from the project implementation, which comes from the Provincial Department of Environment and Conservation International (CI). Under this JCM project, we see that there are many positive outcomes including capacity building of PDoE staff on GIS tool, SMART tool, patrolling activities as well as the support materials and equipment for daily operation such as petrol, motorcycles and other communication strategy etc.

It should be noted that the implementation of Phase I is from 2018 to 2021, and the project is in the process of transferring the credits generated from the project to the Japanese side. In addition, CI and Mitsui are now working on the Phase II, which will start from 2024-2028.
