The CCCA3/DCC organised a consultation workshop on the KAP4 results with line ministries, the private sector and development partners on 18 March 2024. The workshop aimed to share KAP4 findings and solicit stakeholder feedback, providing a platform to refine Cambodia's climate communication strategy. This approach supports evidence-based decision-making, tailored to Cambodia's unique context, for effective public engagement and awareness raising. It was also proposed to refine the KAP4 communication strategy: the workshop aims to gather inputs for the development of an improved climate change communication strategy, with the aim of strengthening climate change communication and raising public awareness, with a particular focus on filling knowledge gaps and correcting misconceptions.

The workshop was chaired by H.E. Dr. Chuop Paris, Secretary of State at the MoE, who emphasised the importance of the KAP studies in assessing the level of understanding and practices of the Cambodian people, identifying knowledge gaps and making recommendations for future policy interventions. Presentations on the KAP4 results were given in Khmer and focused on introducing and explaining in detail the results of the KAP4 study. Throughout the discussion, participants had the opportunity to interact and ask questions in either Khmer or English to ensure full understanding by all.

Furthermore, the participants were divided into 4 groups to ensure a fruitful discussion in smaller groups to discuss the following topics:

  • Exploring government initiatives: examination of existing governmental efforts and interventions addressing climate change.
  • Sharing success stories: identification and sharing of best practices and successful examples in climate change adaptation and mitigation.
  • Identifying challenges: discussion on the obstacles and barriers faced in combating climate change at various levels.
  • Developing communication strategies: brainstorming effective strategies for improving climate change communication and public awareness.
