On 22 March 2024, a “Policy dialogue and dissemination Workshop of the ISOC project” was conducted by the National University of Battambang (NUBB) in Battambang province. This workshop is part of the “Investment in soil organic carbon management for resilient upland farming (ISOC)” research project, funded by CCCA3.
The workshop helped disseminate the research findings of the ISOC project to relevant stakeholders, and to engage in discussions with practitioners and stakeholders regarding the outcomes of the project related to land use and management in response to climate change in Cambodia. A total of 40 participants from the CCCA3, MoE, MAFF, MWRM, MoWA, PDFF, PDWRM, CASIC, PDWA, PDISTI, PDs, NGOs, and members of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce attended the workshop. The workshop presented the key achievements of the ISOC research project including the quantification of the early change in SOC and N stocks from convention and conservation agriculture quantified, best practices and case studies on productions of multiple ecosystems services assessed for conventional and conservation agriculture practices, and awareness-raising of the importance of conservation agriculture in soil conservation, farmer livelihood improvement, and climate resilience.
Within the project, one PhD student has been supported. Moreover, policy recommendation and technical research findings or the data on SOC depletion and restoration rates accessed within the project are useful and resourceful to enrich the Cambodia GHG inventory and climate-agriculture policy and strategy in Cambodia.
