NAP WS Jun 15Siem Reap-24-25 June 2015, A training workshop on National Adaption Plan (NAP) process and Climate Finance Readiness Programme was organized by Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environment with support from Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA), German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) and US Agency for International Development (USAID), targeted to 48 officials (6 women included)​ from governments/agencies, development partners, and NGOs to increase their understanding on the NAP process and Climate Finance Readiness Programme.

Ms. Susann Mende, GIZ representative, expressed the GIZ’s support to Cambodia in the NAP process development “GIZ under the financial support from USAID will provide support in capacity building in the planning process to Cambodia, and will sooner sign MoU with MoE to implement the support”.

H.E. Tin Ponlok, Secretary General of National Council for Sustainable Development, added that at international level, under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, least developed countries as Cambodia has received support in the NAP process development for the medium-long term; and this is a mechanism which further contributes to the successful implementation of Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan 2014-2023.

To operationalize the NAP process, Cambodia will focus on the 6 main strategic intervention areas: (1) Intersectoral coordinated implementation, (2) Data systems and analyses, (3) Support financing systematically, (4) Capacity development and vertical mainstreaming linking national and sub-national levels, (5) Overall steering of implementation and evaluating effectiveness (M&E) and (6) Qualitative mainstreaming.
