On 26th and 28th morning September 2023, Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) conducted a training workshop on Community safe drinking water station and a closing workshop for the project implementation titled “CSO-Public partnership to favor safe water access in rural areas”, which is the joint partnership with the Fontaine 1001, supported from CCCA3 respectively. This workshop was presided over by H.E. Srin Poutthy, Advisor to MRD, Director of the Rural Water Supply Department. 

The training workshop aims to:

1. Strengthening the capacity of the community safe drinking water station construction technical norm of the Department of Rural Water Supply, Prey Veng, Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey technical officers, the safe drinking water production process and the maintenance; 

2. Sharing the experiences, challenges and results of the safe drinking water production and management; 

3. Increasing the cooperation between the technical officers of the Department of Rural Water Supply, the Three Provincial Department of Rural Development and the Fontaine 1001; 

The objectives of the closing workshop focus on:

1. Presentation on the project history, goal and implemented results;

2. Sharing experiences, challenges, stakeholder engagement and lessons learnt from the project implementation; 

3. Dissemination of the Guidance Book on the Rural Water Scarcity Mitigation Plan to all participants.

Moreover, MRD has proposed some scales up opportunity for the next phase:

1. Increasing number of locations for the next project implementation;

2. Continuously capacity development to decentralize level (Sub-national level) 

3. Developing policy and guideline on rural and remote area for water management from national to sub-national level.
