On 3 April 2024, the CCCA3 and the DCC staff attended the “Consultation Workshop on the interplay between climate change policies and social sector budgets: strengthen financing of the climate informed social policies in Asia and the Pacific”, organized by UNDP and UNICEF. The workshop presented insights from the literature review of study on Strengthening Financing of the Climate Informed Social Policies in Asia and the Pacific and helped to fill data deficiencies identified during the literature review by gathering firsthand information from key stakeholders. It was participated by a range of public and private entities including the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD), Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Health, National Council for Social Protection, Ministry of Economy and Finance and representatives of UNDP and UNCEF
At the workshop key challenges and opportunities related to climate change mainstreaming in their respective sectors were identified, through various group discussions, while priority actions, strategies and potential areas for collaboration and coordination among stakeholders were identified to more forward and improve the study. At the same time, the participants also provided key inputs and recommendation for case studies presented, focusing on an updated institutional arrangement, key policy documentation on climate change developed, and transformative climate change actions into practices, particularly on climate financing in Cambodia.
