IMG 7138 reshape rIn the morning of 13 February 2013, the Ministry of Environment organized the CCCA 7th Program Support Board (PSB) Meeting which was presided over by H.E Dr. Mok Mareth, Senior Minister, Minister of Environment and the Chairman of CCCA PSB. The meeting was participated by representatives from the CCCA development partners including EU, Sweden Embassy and UNDP. The main objectives of the meeting were to oversee the implementation of the CCCA program in 2012, to discuss on ways forward for 2013-2014 and to consult the future development of Cambodia Climate Change Financing Framework which is an effective mechanism in responding to climate change issues.

In his welcome remarks, H.E Senior Minister highlighted the key achievements of the CCCA program include the development of Cambodia Climate Change Strategic Plan and the Cambodia Climate Change Financing framework, grant providing to 19 climate change pilot projects, and the implementation of climate change education and awareness raising activities and coastal zone adaptation project.

CCCA Development Partners appreciated CCCA achievements under administration and coordination of the Ministry of Environment. Also, the PSB meeting has provided a number of constructive recommendations on key prioritized actions including institutional capacity development, mainstreaming climate change into National Strategic Development Plan for 2014 and 2018 and the preparation of an attractive and reliant Cambodia Climate Change Financing Framework. A significant discussion was also focus on strengthening cooperation and resource mobilization for future climate change actions that help Cambodia develops towards a greener, climate resilient, equitable, sustainable and knowledge-based society, which followed by recommendations of the Prime Minister in the Second National Forum on Climate Change.  

The Cambodia Climate Change Alliance, a multi-donors initiative program funded by EU, Sweden Embassy, UNDP and Danida, was launched in 2010 with a total grant of 12 million US dollars. This program is coordinated by Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environment to strengthen government institutions in managing and implementing climate change actions in Cambodia that align with government development priorities.
