INDC workshop 17 Jun 2015Phnom Penh- 17 June 2015, Cambodia has starting prepared a report on Intended Nationally Determined Contribution to the United Nations to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (INDC) through a consultative workshop organized by Climate Change Department (CCD) in collaboration with the British Embassy in Cambodia through RECARDO-AEA and the United Nation Environment Program (UNEP) at Imperial Hotel. The event seeks alternative measures of mitigation and adaptation to reduce greenhouse gases emissions to be incorporated into the INDC report.

H.E. Tin Ponlok, Secretary General of National Council for Sustainable Development of the Ministry of Environment, mentioned this is another major step of the government to show willingness to​​ joint with the international community to tackle climate change towards achieving a new climate agreement in 2015. As a least developed country and a member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Cambodia has begun preparing INDC coordinating by the CCD under the collaborative support of the British Embassy in Cambodia and the Global Environment Fund (GEF) through Nations Environment (UNEP). The preparation of this report will be completed and submitted to the UNFCCC Secretariat by October 2015 in prior to Conference of Parties 21 to be hosted in coming December in Paris.

The workshop has been run through technical presentations on how to prepare the report as well as group work to set priorities to mitigate and adapt to climate change, determining the necessary plans and methods for implementing the options to be included in the report.
