IMG 4088 1Phnom Penh, January 21, 2019 – Climate Change Technical Working Group (CCTWG) members and development partners involved in the climate change response in Cambodia, met for the 4th time this morning, a forum for policy dialogue and coordination between all concerned stakeholders, to define opportunities to participate in resource mobilization for an effective response to climate change.

The meeting discussed on some key areas of agenda: outcomes of 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the UNFCCC and implications for Cambodia, status of climate change mainstreaming in the new National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP) 2019-2023, update on the status of Green Climate Fund (GCF) pipeline such as readiness projects, concept notes and project proposals, update new upcoming climate change programming between CCTWG and partners.

Key concerned stakeholders are CCTWG composed of 19 ministries/agencies, donors, academia, civil society organizations and private sectors, totally 47 people, including 8 women. This 4th meeting is organized by Department of Climate Change, General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) under presidency of H.E. Chuop Paris, Deputy Secretary General of the NCSD and CCTWG chair.

It was agreed that all participants will be asked for inputs as Cambodia prepares the roadmap for its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC under the Paris Agreement), and prepares to submit an updated NDC by 2020. the Chair also asked all development partners to ensure that their climate finance projects are properly reported in Cambodia’s ODA database, for transparency and visibility purposes.
