On 29 March 2024, the General Department of Policy and Planning (GDPP) held the Final Workshop of the CCCA3 funded project “Promotion of electric Motorbike Adoption for a Sustainable Transport Sector” implemented by the Ministry of Public Work and Transport (MPWT). The workshop was conducted at the Sunway Hotel in Phnom Penh and participated by a total of 83 participants (21 women) from the General Department of Policy and Planning, and General Department of Land Transport of the MPWT, from the Ministry of Environment, E-motorbike suppliers (Oyika, THADA, Verywords, Onion, Voltra), delivery companies, and early adopters (private and public). 

The objectives of this dissemination workshop were to share the main achievements, challenges and lessons learnt from the project implementation; to present the priority regulations/guidelines as another key project output to support and leverage the demonstration of electric motorcycles to contribute to future sustainable transport in Cambodia; and to reflect on the policy brief on lessons learnt and recommendations from the pilot and considerations for future scale-up.

Overall, the main achievements are: 1) development of an educational video spots for social media campaign. 2) organization of an awareness raising event in Siem Reap on 22 March 2024 showcasing 25 e-motorbikes and 5 electric three-wheelers (tuk-tuk) for test driving and promotion of the electric motorbikes. A total of 55 people (13 women) participated in the campaign, representing MPWT, MOE, Siem Reap Provincial DPWT, police traffic officer, VERYWORDS company, ONION company, VOLTRA company, public and tourists. 3) development of a policy brief on lessons learned and recommendations. 4) survey on the level of satisfaction and confidence in using electric motorbikes among the early adopters.
